The founder of Tronsmart, Eric Cheng, is an electronic enthusiast who in 2008 used his first paycheck to create a small laboratory, where he disassembled tech products in order to grasp a greater understanding of their inner components. Being located in Shenzhen - Asia's Silicon Valley of hardware - he would find components in the local market and assemble his own unique electric devices. Eric took this self-acquired understanding of electronics and used it to create a wide range of cost-effective gadgets. After assembling a trusted team, Eric managed to bring his self-made electronics to mass production; thus creating the brand “Tronsmart” in 2013.

Great sound especially in a small area

Ok let's start with the dislike and I'm really nit picking here it's kinda heavy ...the sound of this speaker is great love it no complaints turned all the way up and absolutely no distortion...I take mine in my tractor trailer and the battery lasts 10 to 12 hours straight...love this thing

It packs a punch! On sound not your wallet

Sound quality is good and has a large battery capacity. I am not into technical details about sound, but I have heard another renowned portable brands (at a very hefty price tag) and it just does not worth the additional cost.

Since they have brought the bang max out had to have one , so got mine imported through amazon from the EU , the sound quality is good nicely balanced at low volume .but puts it out at high volume with very little distortion I'm very please with mine, am a jbl fan , but very impressed with this one

Una bestia para fiestas en el exterior

Después de poner a prueba este altavoz, se nota que Tronsmart se ha enfocado especialmente en hacer un altavoz potente, con buena relación calidad precio y bastante mas autonomía que el resto de altavoces similares. El único inconveniente es que los altavoces enfocados a la alta potencia no suelen tener una calidad de sonido muy alta.

Si lo que buscas es un altavoz para usarlo en exteriores y que te dure toda una noche de fiesta, entonces este es el tuyo, ya que tiene una batería de 18000mAh que se carga en unas 5h del 0% al 100% aproximadamente y te permitirán usarlo hasta 24h con el volumen al 50% y las luces RGB apagadas o unas 6-8h horas si lo usamos con la potencia al 100%.

La calidad de sonido no está nada mal, pero hay que tener en cuenta que no llega a tener la calidad de sus competidores, aunque tampoco llega al precio de lo que cuestan sus competidores que en algunos casos triplican el precio de este. Los graves son potentes y cuando lo pones al máximo no distorsiona.

Con la aplicación de Tronsmart puedes saber el % exacto de batería restante, cambiar los modos de iluminación, cambiar los ajustes de sonido e incluso usar un ecualizador personalizado.

La locura de este altavoz, es que se pueden conectar hasta 100 altavoces iguales a la vez. Lamentablemente esto no lo he podido poner en practica, pero si algún amigo tuyo compra uno igual, cuando vayáis juntos a algún sitio tendréis el doble de potencia... o el X100 de potencia si llegas a conseguir 100 altavoces iguales juntos jajaja

Se puede hacer funcionar mediante tarjeta micro SD, USB, conexión Bluetooth, entrada auxiliar e incluso tienes la opción de conectarle dos fuentes de entrada (micrófonos o instrumentos) y usarlo para tocar en directo, aunque eso si, usar las conexiones de entrada para micrófonos o instrumentos externos reducen considerablemente la autonomía del mismo.

Si estamos en un lugar donde haya un enchufe, lo podemos utilizar mientras se carga sin ningún tipo de problema.

En definitiva, una opción ideal para escuchar música fuerte en el exterior, aunque perfectamente se puede usar también en el exterior sin tener que preocuparse demasiado por la batería.

Gran compañero de fiestas.

Lo he recivido hoy mismo y ya puedo decir lo que me a parecido. Esta construido de material de calidad, es grande y pesadito aunque a mi no me importa eso. Tiene muchas funciones que casi todo se puede controlar del mismo altavoz sin entrar a la app. Tiene unos graves muy poderosos y suele tapar a los agudos pero yo he ido comprobando las ecualizaciones del altavoz y tambien del movil ya que lo tenia por bluethooth y a mejorado bastante el sonido a alto volumen todavia me falta por aprenderlo y cojerle su truco, pero suena muy fuerte y muy bien para mi gusto, tiene una asa muy comoda y te lo llebas a cualquier lado. La bateria me vino con un 80% lo cargue a tope y lo he usado unas horas a bajo volumen y sobre una hora a alto volumen y solo a gastado un 10% con la caña que le he dado y bastantes pruebas me parece q a consumido poco y para la potencia q tiene. Tiene un precio muy ajustado y tiene buen balance calidad precio, lo recomiendo.

Tronsmart Studio review: A small, handsome Bluetooth speaker with surprisingly good sonics

This small but powerful wireless speaker defied exceeded our fidelity expectations—especially its 3D faux surround.

If you’re looking for a small, good-sounding speaker for your desk or nightstand, you could do a lot worse than the Tronsmart Studio. This Bluetooth model delivers a surprising amount of thump, and it’s faux 3D sound is far better than you’d expect from a $70 speaker.

Design and features

For a unit that measures only 8.13 x 2.28 x 2.76 inches (WxHxD), including a large rubber base, the Tronsmart Studio is surprisingly hefty at around two pounds. That usually bespeaks quality construction, and I like it.

I also like the rounded, slant-edge rectangular styling. The Studio seemingly borrows style cues from another decade—in a pleasant way. The large Tronsmart label is understandable, if just a tad large and—to be honest—unfortunate. Come up with a snazzy logo, guys.

This review is part of TechHive’s coverage of the best Bluetooth speakers, where you’ll find reviews of the competition’s offerings, plus a buyer’s guide to the features you should consider when shopping for this type of product.

The Studio features two small (approximately 2-inch) full-range speakers and a lot of porting. When looking through the front grill, you can see through the porting traveling the depth of the speaker. There’s 30 watts total from the unit, so I’m figuring 15 watts per speaker, which is quite a bit for a Bluetooth speaker this small. There are two 2600mAH batteries on board for a claimed 15-hour run time.

Unusually, Tronsmart’s Studio will play music from a microSD card.

The Bluetooth is 5.0, there’s a 3.5mm auxiliary audio input, a USB-C port for charging, and get this—a genuine microSD card slot for direct playback. I’ve only seen these slots on audio units intended for use in conjunction with automobile stereos, and it’s a handy way to create your own library without involving your phone or computer.

The controls are dead center on top of the speaker, and consist of volume minus/previous-track, play/pause, volume plus/next-track, power, Bluetooth pairing, broadcast (multiple speaker broadcast), and the SoundPulse (deepen/EQ) effect. Tronsmart claims linking with up to 100 additional speakers but there’s no stereo pairing of just two.

There’s also an app (shown below) that allows you to apply various EQ presets.

Tronsmart’s app let’s you select EQ presets. The 3D was impressive, but there’s no user EQ.

Disappointingly, I could find no custom EQ, though there’s a preset that’s suitable for just about every taste and genre. The 3D setting in particular impressed the heck out of me, and I largely stuck with it for my listening sessions once I tried it.

Sound

Alas, Tronsmart didn’t send me a second Studio to test the broadcast feature. From what I’ve read, each additional speaker simply repeats the original stereo signal; i.e., there’s no splitting a stereo signal between two speakers for a L/R effect. Tronsmart calls additional speakers “vice” speakers. Vice as in vice-president, I suppose. I hope.

Tronsmart’s Studio produces far more volume and bass than you’d expect for the price and relatively small profile.

That said, I was surprised at the depth of the Studio’s sound. When I chose the 3D EQ preset, as mentioned, my ears perked up. I was not prepared for how spacious the effect would be, and how it avoids the artifacts that sometimes plagues this technology. Up until this mode, I was lukewarm on the overall sound. Not great, but not bad; and there was no user EQ setting I could tweak to taste. After using 3D mode, I found myself using the Studio far beyond it’s test period. I’m still using it. Run time for me was around 8 hours playback and a week-and-a half of downtime with 30 percent battery life left.

While the Studio might not be the best-sounding speaker I’ve heard, it’s very good for the price, and it pumps out far more low-end and volume than one has any right to expect at this price.

Conclusion

The Tronsmart Studio is my new favorite in the small desktop category. Largely because of the marvelous 3D effect, though the bass and volume are factors as well. For $70 it’s a bargain.

Tronsmart Bang Max review: Tons of power at a bargain price

You might not know the brand, but Tronsmart is making Bluetooth speakers that are at least as good—if not better—than the ones the brands you're more familiar with are building.

Tronsmart has made a name for itself with Bluetooth speakers that aim to compete with some of the best-reviewed brands in the industry. The Shenzen, China-based manufacturer has embraced a throwback aesthetic with an 80s-style futuristic logo and builds speakers that punch far above their weight.

The company’s latest is the Tronsmart Bang Max, a powerhouse outdoor speaker that’s packed with features and impressive battery life. The Bang Max has a lot in common with the $499 JBL Boombox 3 and manages to compare favorably to a speaker that sells for more than twice as much.

Tronsmart Bang Max build quality

The Bang Max is a beast, measuring 10.24 x 18.5 x 7.83 inches HxW D and weighing 13.2 lbs. A sturdy handle makes it easy to carry, but it’s not a speaker you’ll enjoy lugging a mile from the car to the beach if you’ve got a terrible parking situation. The unit has an

IPX6 waterproof rating, so it’ll survive trips to the beach or pool, provide you don’t submerge the speaker.

There’s a three-way active speaker system with two 30-watt woofers, two 20W mid tweeters, and two 10W tweeters. There are also two passive radiators, one on each end of its enclosure. That setup generates 130W of dynamic power and the speaker is big enough to deliver true stereo imaging. The unit uses Bluetooth 5.3 and supports the SBC codec, but none of the higher-resolution codecs (e.g., aptX or LDAC).

The bulk of the cylinder is covered by a fabric grille, but there’s a silicone control strip on the front of the unit that features a power button, a Bluetooth indicator, volume up and down buttons, and a multi-function play/pause button that also answers phone calls.

A SoundPulse button activates Tronsmart’s custom digital signal-processing technology. That DSP promises to soften harsh noises and enhance the stereo soundstage from the speaker. More on that in a bit.

The strip also includes a stereo pairing button, one that allows you to make the Bang Max one side of a stereo pair with another Bang Max speaker. This is usually a welcome feature on smaller speakers, but the stereo imaging from this speaker is good enough that I can’t imagine needing it.

There’s also a TuneConn button for users who want to create a daisy chain of up to 100 compatible Tronsmart speakers. If you find yourself in a family or friend group full of Tronsmart devotees, you can create a very impressive effect with enough speakers.

The rear of the speaker has a series of inputs along the bottom that give you options besides Bluetooth for music playback. There’s a microSD card slot, a USB slot, and a 3.5mm aux-in port. There’s also a DC power input for charging.

The speaker is also outfitted with a pair of ¼-inch inputs. One can take either a microphone or guitar plug and the other is for a mic only. Each input has its own volume knob and gain control. That means you can use the Bang Max as a karaoke speaker to sing along with your favorite tracks, or you can set it up as a portable PA for sidewalk performances. An Echo button on the front control panel can add reverb effects.

Tronsmart promises 24 hours of battery life with the Bang Max, but you’re not going to get quite that much if you’re pushing the volume to its highest levels. I listened for more than 20 hours at around 75dB, and the battery level lights on the left end of the control strip still show a 25 percent charge. The speaker comes with a 15V power adapter, and a full charge takes about 5.5 hours.

Using the Tronsmart app

The Tronsmart app is loaded with features. Starting with the settings panel, you can update the speaker’s firmware, disconnect it from a source via a button, access the user manual, or set a time for the speaker to automatically power off.

The app’s main screen has a battery level indicator, a volume slider, and buttons for play/pause, skip forward, and skip back. There’s an EQ settings panel, and a controller panel that allows you to switch between inputs, activate stereo pairing and broadcast modes, and power-off the speaker from within the app. That’s a killer feature that should be standard on every Bluetooth speaker, and one that’s especially welcome when you’re using a speaker that can cover such a wide area. There are also control buttons for the Bang Max’s flashing lights.

Another feature that deserves praise is Tronsmart’s decision to leave the built-in light show off by default. The lights are in a circle on each end on the outside of the passive radiators. There are only three LED modes with this speaker: Carousel, Deep Breath, and Fashion Party. Carousel pulses and cycles through all the colors available. Deep Breath cycles through at a slower pace, but still in time with the beat. Fashion Party features the lights racing around the circle as they change color with each full rotation.

Three is exactly the right number of light show options. Speaker manufacturers that give you six or more are just making it harder to decide, especially since it’s hard to keep track of the minor differences between options once you get that many choices.

Listening to the Tronsmart Bang Max

Once I started listening to the Tronsmart Bang Max, I just left the speaker’s SoundPulse DSP activated. Did SoundPulse alter the music mixes in some noticeable ways? Sure, but it made for a more engaging listening experience when I was involved in outdoor activities. The Bang Max just wants to party and has no desire to be a reference speaker for critical listening.

SoundPulse is just one of the EQ options built into the Tronsmart app. There’s also the Default (flat) EQ, Deep Bass, Rock, Classical, and a Custom setting option. I played with the Custom settings until I found an EQ that I thought was perfect, but I ended up preferring the SoundPulse option when I switched back. Deep Bass swallows up all the midrange and treble, creating a dull-sounding muffled playback experience. Rock and Classical settings seemed completely superfluous; I couldn’t hear a significant difference when using those EQ settings.

The real EQ choice seems to be between Default and SoundPulse (hence the button on the front of the unit), although the Custom EQ settings will be of interest to those who feel like that have to try to tweak audio to their own standards.

Tronsmart promises that the Bang Max will get to 110dB of loudness. I hit that number on my decibel meter, but the audio started to distort for me above about 98dB. That’s plenty of volume for most people. If you’re looking for anything above that level, you should really be looking at giant cabinet speakers, such as the Soundboks Go or the Sony SRS-XV800 tower speaker.

The Bang Max put outs an impressive amount of bass, and that boom carries for an even more impressive distance. That’s going to be too much bass for some listeners who prefer jazz, classical, or acoustic music to pop, hip hop or rock, but I wasn’t bothered by the tradeoff.

Should you buy the Tronsmart Bang Max?

The Bang Max is an exceptional value. When compared side by side with the JBL Boombox 3, I could detect a bit more definition in the upper midrange and I’d go with the JBL based on sound if all things were equal.

Except they’re not equal. When listening to the Bang Max when the JBL wasn’t around, I didn’t miss the Boombox 3. Add in the fact that the Tronsmart Bang Max costs less than half than what JBL charges and adds in the light show and karaoke capabilities, and you don’t really have a contest. What Tronsmart can’t yet offer is the kind of brand familiarity that will impress your neighbors at a backyard barbecue. That could change if the company continues to ship speakers this good at prices this low.

While other models of the brand have followed rather familiar concepts of Bluetooth speakers so far. But the Tronsmart T7 is something completely new. This column-shaped outdoor speaker, which can be used both in vertical or horizontal position, comes with an active 2.1 speaker concept.

That´s not everything: A coloured LED enables a decent lightshow, the app comes with an EQ and the driver positioning is promising somewhat of a “360-degree surround sound”. And if you are more into classy traditional hi-fi vibes: watch the nice large, smooth-running volume control knob!

Three drivers, 30 watts

However, what is promised to be a 360-degree surround sound is rather a stereo arrangement consisting of two tweeters pointing into opposite directions. Contrary to most of similarly-shaped speakers, these two are positioned on both sides of the column. In terms of speaker placement, this means that you get the best spatiality by pointing the system´s LED ring and volume knob at the listener. Rather unusual. Or just place it vertically with the control panel facing towards the listener

The bass driver on the other end of the column makes some kind of a downfire subwoofer. I.e. benefits from acoustic help by the groundplane, may it be a table or the floor. This works due to a very trickily formed base stand. Whether it’s stable on sand or uneven ground leaves to be open.

In addition to the active bass driver, two passive compound drivers, each next to one tweeters are supposed to reinforce the low-frequencies. All in all, a total of 30 watts is driving the 3 active drivers. This might help to understand why a fully charged battery only lasts up to 12 hours. However, this is true only only with lightshow being deactivated, with LED ring on just 4 hours are left. And even that is rather on the optimistic side.

Lots of features, lots of potential fails

Besides Bluetooth version 5.3, the Tronsmart T7 plays music from a MicroSD memory card inserted into the dedicated slot. The system appears to be aiming at a younger target group because the icons on the rubber keys are hardly recognizable for older generations just for the fact that are only black.

The off/on button is also responsible for switching between these 2 sources as well activating the lightshow. Stereo pairing with another identical device also works purely via key combination. A dedicated button is provided only for switching EQ modes.

Operating the Tronsmart T7 means learning all these hidden tricks: Behind the Play button 5 different codes are setting 5 different features in action, from a short click to double click, longer one or holding it down for at least 8 seconds. The manual is really detailed regarding this matter, but this is necessary. Some almost satirical translation errors are giving in inside view into Chinese technical terms, so be ready for “host” and “deputy speaker” being called to “marquee on”.

For more features and more translation fails, check out different language versions of the Tronsmart app for iOS and Android. Especially the EQ bands and presets are subject to a secret language. Why the developers cut bass and treble for rock music, of all things, remains another secret. You can save most of the presets anyway. “Standard” and “HiFi” do the best job for most applications.

Listening test full of surprises

This happens rarely, but given the size and concept of the new Tronsmart T7, we were really totally amazed from the very beginning. This Bluetooth speaker sounds amazing for its pricepoint. Although still with the back facing the listeners, it sounded tonally balanced all the way to the treble region which is commonly sensitive to listening from different angles. When going ´round the system, the tonal balance hardly changed. That is really great. Voices, for example of Caleb Followill, lead singer to the Kings of Leon, sounded clear and expressive. Wow, it’s really rare in this price range that voices are reproduced in such a natural way while the sound image is well detached from the speaker creating some kind of ambience.

These virtues are completed by a very dry bass with astonishing power. Its dynamical capabilities are also convincing given the size; music sounded anything but pressed in our listening test. Transparency is not quite audiophile but is more than adequate. At the beginning of “Closer” you can clearly hear the guitar amp´s humming like on the stage of a live gig. Combined with a great sense of rhythm that´s way more than to expect from a system just costing 60 bucks.

A lot of light, a bit of shade

However, Tronsmart can’t do magic. It is true that the T7 plays quite loud. However, especially rough voices like those of Kings of Leon get some certain characteristics of aggression while the bass is somewhat slower than midrange and treble. However, impulses and max SPL are impressive. You don’t get such fast, crisp impulses every day, even with more expensive Bluetooth speakers. Accordingly, we skipped the cheap competitors at all and got the JBL Flip 6, which is more than twice as expensive given its retail price.

The 6th generation Flip, which has matured over the years, was able to keep up very well in terms of tonal balance and impulses despite its more compact dimensions. But it definitely used a little trick in the bass: upper bass seemd to be a bit emphasized and thus letting the electric bass on Thomas Dolby’s “Budapest By Blimp” appear to be richer and more impressive. However, the slightly lower frequencies of the more voluminous Tronsmart T7 generally had a positive effect on feeling the substantial boom of drums. In addition, the T7 was way ahead regarding larger soundstage and ambience. We should highlight that this does not come with a diffuse and phasy touch being experienced with many 360-degree concepts. The JBL was able to counter this by maintaining its balance even at higher SPL, whereas the Tronsmart tends to a certain harshness.

Tronsmart T7: Conclusion and alternatives

Together with the Tronsmart Studio, the Tronsmart T7 is without any doubt one of the best Bluetooth speakers in the 60 dollars class. In addition, it is designed for outdoor use, has a practical strap and a classy volume knob. However, it is also a bit bigger and heavier than most competitors. If you want a more refined sound or cleaner voices at max SPL, you have to pay considerably more.
